Maybe the tapes aren't alphabetical or date corrected. Which why two tapes are similar (talking about spring locks) and another tape is different. Maybe someone record every month or every incident. For example they recorded in February then recorded continues in June. Which means tapes March - May were never recorded or could be lost through time. Considering the place was abandoned and they randomly found a box of tapes. Anything could have happened.

I think the "suspect convicted" thing may have genuinely been a mistake. It goes on to say that "a suspect has been charged". This is kinda redundant because usually the conviction FOLLOWS the charge, not the other way around. I think what scott meant was "the suspect has been taken into custody". Which makes sense because the charge follows that. It also makes sense to specify that the suspect has been charged because you can be held in custody for a certain amount of time before being charged. It might vary from state to state, but i believe 48 hours from the time of arrest is the maximum amount of time you can go without being charged. If 48 hours pass and they still javent given you a formal charge, tbry have to let you go. Anyway, given that it was later explicitly stated later that the suspect was "let go due to a lack of evidence", aka, NOT CONVICTED, I think its safe to say that scott just used the wrong word. This might even be the one ret con that he admits to happening. It's important to keep in mind that FNAF 1 is an outlier compared to the rest of the series because scott thought it would be the only game. He wasn’t being careful about wording and laying clues to hint at future games. And with that being said, scott didn’t have the FNAF 4 mini games planned out during the development of FNAF 1. Like others have said, it's much more likely that the words "cartoon mascot" are used to describe the appearance of the animatronics and suits. Not to imply that it is a mascot from a cartoon.

When it comes to the FNAF 1 backstage camera easter egg, I think a way that you could possibly explain it with current lore in mind is with remnant. It’s not hard to imagine William did tests with remnant several times in order to figure out exactly how it worked and how responsive small amounts of remnant could be. All of the objects in the room that actually turn and look at you have the eyes, which are presumably at least partially made of some sort of metal encasing. Remnant seeps into metal when warm, so it wouldn’t be out of line for William’s hypothetical experiment to work in this instance. He probably wouldn’t inject much, given it’s a valuable resource, so the endos and masks (at least in the first game) move rarely and not by much. There could also be a chance that Phone Guy is the one who possesses Endo 01, but given the fact that Endo is only a recurring character in games like FNAF World (FNAF 2s has a different endo, which definitely isn’t Phone Guy since he hadn’t died yet), it doesn’t feel right. If he was Endo, you’d figure they’d find a way to make it explicitly clear that his soul was also freed, especially with how iconic of a character he is in the first few games. This theory doesn’t explain the posters, unless we want to get super wacky with it and say the nails or staples used to get put them on the walls were ALSO covered in remnant. My guess would be that because Golden Freddy is likely two people (I know dual process theory has shaken up the community buuut…) and is seemingly locked in a secret storage space somewhere like Springtrap, GFs remnant is so strong it’s able to reach beyond itself and haunt other things within the building, but not to the level it can actually teleport. The GF jumpscare feels like it’s probably a hallucination with modern lore context.
